Personally, since I'm chinese it actually looks more like 'plum' than hate to me. But that's just me. This is Japanese kanji, while practically the same as traditional Chinese is still different.

...wow, seriously? Every time I try to google the kanji symbols for "hate" and "strawberry" myself, the results tend to be identical.
