"Yah! Faster! Faster!"

"Win?... Ho... huff... how far does this place go?" Angela asked over her steady gallop.

"I leapt you over the fence of the polo grounds some time ago," Winifred excitedly replied. "There's nothing but virgin meadows for miles!"

Angela slowed to a trot and glared over her shoulder. "When were you planning on telling me that? You've been riding me pretty hard, you know. It's a serious strain on my legs, not to mention our friendship."

"Hey, this was your idea." Winifred sat up straight in the saddle, gently shaking the reins. "You wanted to see the limits of your new form, and it takes a skilled rider to get the very best out of her mount."

"Well, I think I'm starting to regret this idea," Angela said, nervously playing with her braids. "Just because that spell I found shoed and saddled me, I don't think I should have been so quick to have you hop on."

"Nonsense, there are plenty of centaurs back at the club." Winifred shifted in her seat to scratch an itch.

"Are you even listening to me? The point isn't that I'm a centaur, the point is that I've been one for less that twenty-four hours because I changed myself into one with a spell I picked at random! Who knows what else I could've done?" Angela punctuated her single-breath rant with an involuntary snort.

"Angela, why is it that I'm the one who sleeps in a coffin, and you're such a pessimist? Look at where we are. Isn't it lovely out here? Fresh air, exercise, sugar cubes... what more could you possibly want right now?"

"Well, I'd like you stop hand-feeding me sugar cubes. I have arms."

"Done! Now let's get moving before I hop off this saddle and show you how it's done myself."
