…Previously…

"Can anyone give me three of the major factors that led to the fall of the Roman Empire?"

A stiched hand shot up, as usual.

"Anyone besides Shelley?  How about you, Winifred?  You've been quiet today."

Winifred muttered something.

"Ms. Pale, you're going to have to speak up. I couldn't quite--"

"I said it's because it was full of pathetic humans!" Winifred shouted.

Not long after accidentaly transforming herself into a teacher, the adult Angela Morgan sat down with the school administrators and landed a position as the Head of Human Studies.  After all, Winifred Pale had already taken a small human town, effectively sealing it off from the rest of the human world and making it part of Underborough.  There were already more than a few humans going about their daily routines in Underborough, and even some had enrolled in the school.  It seemed only fair that they were respresented in the curriculum.  The native Underboroughans should know about where their new neighbors came from as well.

"Humans are not equipped for world takeover, plain and simple!  Week in and week out, you're lecturing us on failed conquerors.  I'm not stupid, Angela, I know what you're trying to prove.  But the only common thread in all of this is that they are human."

As prone as she was to outbursts, Winifred was right.  Angela's Human History class had a heavy focus on figures from the past that had tried their hand at taking over the world.  She had hoped initially that teaching Winifred about these people would dampen her plans for the human world, but no such luck.

"Well, perhaps you just haven't been doing the research, Winifred," Ms. Morgan said calmly. "In fact, why don't you write me a five-page paper on the fall of the Roman Empire.  I want it on my desk by Friday."

A low "OooOoo..." filled the room.

Winifred's defiant face sank. "But it's already Wednesday!" she protested, more whiny than angry.

"And if you call me Angela in my classroom again, it will be ten pages with an outline."

If the lessons don't sway Winifred Pale from taking over the world, Ms. Morgan thought to herself, at least the homework won't leave her any time to do so.

"Oh, and Ms. Brimston, don't think I can't see you on your phone." Ms. Morgan said as Bel looked up slightly shocked.

"What? What phone? I don't have my phone out." Bel said as she tried to quickly put away her phone.

"The next time you take it out I will take it away from you and you will not get it back until the end of the school day."

"That isn't fair, if you do that I'm gonna tell my parents about this." Bel threatened.

"I actually would like it if you did, next to Winifred, you're the only other one who seems to be failing this class and I have been looking for a reason to have a parent-teacher meeting with them." Ms. Morgan threatened with a glare that made Bel sit up straight, clasped her hands together and sit very quietly.

"Now, before I continue does anyone else feel like putting their phones away?" Ms. Morgan asked as lots of other students in the class put their phones away as well.

I might be a nice teacher, but no one said I couldn't be a deviously nice teacher. Ms. Morgan thought to herself with a smile.
